    Hi All,

I'm trying to find good deals on a City Break to Rome in October, flying out from Dublin.
I can't seem to find any straightforward deals, and all the normal sites that you would assume have information seem to be a little bare.

Has anyone on here done a City Break to Rome at that time of year? Where did you book it? Or did you go down the route of booking hotels and flights separately?

If so, what hotels can people recommend, city centre would be nice, provided I don't need a mortgage to afford it! :)

    Thanks,

    Armchairninja!

I stayed in an apartment in Trastevere which was within walking distance of a lot of the tourist areas. Plus Trastevere is a fantastic area to stroll around at night time through the little lanes and restaurants.

I went in October too, it's not the worst time of the year to wander around.

I always book flights and hotels separately, but then again, it is your choice. In the heart of the Historic center of Rome Hotel Abruzzi is a great place, with the tooms actually overlooking the Pantheon! And you won't need a mortgage, it is very reasonably priced.

If you want cheaper hotels, there are many in the Termini area, although I would prefer to stay in the very center.

I in the process of booking a few days away to Rome, going with Aer Lingus. Landing in Davinci airport. How far would that be from the centre and will it be easy enough to get buses to ? Landing at 7pm

DaVinci (FCO) is the main airport for the city, regular trains to take you into Rome. 7pm is not exactly the middle of the night.

If you're dropped off at or near Termini, deffo get a taxi to your hotel. It can be a little bit dodgy with pickpockets there in the eveningtime.

While this may be true, I have to say Termini is still a freak show during the day too. Just one of those spots that attracts oddballs.

Think it's a train station thing - Heuston Station certainly gets its share of crackpots :pac:

we were in rome for 5days 2 weeks ago. had no problem walking to our hotel from termini at night, no hassle at all. i really recommend the hotel lirico. about 10minutes walk down the via internationale to the main sites. nice, clean, and affordable

Here is a thread I started when I went to Rome.I stayed in the historical area near the Basillica de santa Maria de Maggorrie .It was a beautiful area and very safe .I thought termini wasnt too bad but Im not easily scared really.Id avoid the outskirts of Rome ,not nice at all. When you get to the airport ,youll find loads of modes of transport to the city centre .I mean its a huge airport ,just go for the best price.
