    Ah yes, September the 11th.....

I have only vague memories of it now. I had just started in Senior Infants in National School, but I still have a vague memory of seeing it on the TV. The planes screeching in at low level, the giant pall of smoke hanging over the city, terrified people running in all directions, fire, explosions, panic. Gut wrenching stuff.

That infamous day seems like a lifetime ago now. That day when General Pinochet, with American help, bombed the shit out of the Presidential Palace in Santiago, Chile, and ousted the democratically elected President Salvador Allende.

Yes indeed, lest we forget... September the 11th, 1973...........that was a Tuesday as well ;)
