Quick question dont know if this is the right forum, the inlaws moved into a new house this week , now its not newly built they bought off someone.

The problem is my gf dad runs his own IT company from home and he is obviously trying to get all his servers up and running etc and he needs broadband to get it all going etc. Now the previous occupants had vodafone bb and our telling my gf parents they will need to wait 30 days for the phone line to cancel and therefore means his company going to be down until 30 days are up ? Surely this cant be right is it ? Thanks

If you do need something in a hurry then you might be able to use a 3G router (depending on 3G coverage in the area) until you can get something better.

That's the problem the 3G coverage is quite poor in the area

Okay well if the coverage from all 3G providers is so poor as to be unusable then you could try asking/begging a neighbour if you can temporarily connect to their broadband.

If UPC is available in your area, it comes in through cable, not the phone line.

No UPC isn't available they had it in the old house , the question is though can vodafone legally block the line for 30 days?

What happens if you plug a modem into the line? with Vodafone ADSL login settings? You could offer to pay the previous owner's bill for 30 days if their broadband is still live in the house
