Panic Attacks

I started a PLC course this week and am doing the communications module and the presentation software module both of which require a presentation in front of the class.

Due to having panic attacks from time to time i dont think i will be able to do them.

If i spoke to the tutors is it possible they would allow me not to do those parts of the module and just drop the marks or perhaps allow me to try it in front of just them?

A girl I know had a similar problem and the teacher let her record her presentation and then just showed the video to the class. They will generally be accommodating if you really can't face it. Best advice is to talk to them and see what you can work out. Don't get too worked up about it, the presentation (in Communications at least) is only worth 10% of the grade, so if you do well in the rest of the module you can still get a distinction overall. Good luck!

Speak to your tutor about it. In the past, I've let students do it in front of a small group or just in front of me and one other person.

However, if you intend getting into a career that will require you to give presentations, maybe this PLC course will be your chance to overcome your fear.

I'm doing a fetac course from home because of panic attacks. The tutor calls out once a week. For the presentation he just told me to make up the slides, handouts etc as if i was doing a full presentation and print them out. That's all was needed. Was well handy

When I did level 5 communications there was a woman in my class that just couldn't do the presentation. The teacher had the class leave and the woman got to pick two students to stay behind and she did her presentation without any problems. Teachers are usually willing to help you out if you are serious about the course.
The marks you lose from not doing the presentation could be the difference between a merit & a distinction (you need as many distinctions as you can get if you want to progress into Uni)

Speak to the tutor, this should not be a problem. Worst case scenario you just drop the 10% but this shouldn't even be necessary as you could always hand up the print outs of the slides, your research etc and get a few marks on it. Otherwise Im sure the tutor will let you do it one to one or with a couple of students there. I'd be offering the student the chance to do it one to one.
Make sure you do a good job on every other element of the module and you'll be fine. It is a good idea to have a go at the presentation in some format for future though.

As someone who has suffered for tears. I recommend that you do it in some form. Let you be the one to be in control if your own body. You'll be delighted that you did it. Then the next peesentatuon wil be easier and if you keep doing them you'll eventually won't bat an eye lid doing it. Don't let the attacks control you. Be someone who is control if the attacks.
