my advice is to find a hill/mountain trail and run up and down it, the first and last run is 4km of tarmac, but CP takes a bit of getting use to, tricky and rough, good advice for the race is to get some 4cm Zinc oxcide tape and tape up your ankles, look on youtube for taping ankle (I was doing Gaelforce west and sprained my ankle) :-(

but hills, hills, hills is the base for your training !

The main cycle leg of this event is pretty rough if it's the same as last year. Some very tough hills so hill training on the bike would be as important as the running. There was a lot of time spent walking up hills pushing bicycles for many last year.

    is it sport or expert
if its expert get out on the bike a lot between now and then, and do plenty of hills, plenty of running too with hills thrown in there as well

sport is a different story..no bad hills on bike, but itl be short and sharp so you still need to be training..only half way up croagh patrick, but if your not used to it itl be tough, if you are anyway close to westport get down for a go at the course, or bits of it, if you can.. if your going for the expert get a look at the worst of the hills on the bike

fitness for soccer is different to fitness for these kinds of races..so the best advice is to get out and put the hours in..
