My wife is Chinese and we have a nipper on the way and we would very much like them to speak Chinese as well as English.
My wife will speak Chinese and I'd like to have Chinese TV at home also to give the kid as much exposure to the language as possible.
I'm struggling (badly) to learn the language at the moment so overall some Chinese TV seems like the way to go.

There is IP TV available but ideally would prefer satellite.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

You're not going to be in much luck I'm afraid, I think the most you'll get is CCTV and PCNE and they're both news channels, you could take a look at http://en.kingofsat.net/ and select the satellites in turn and then select Chinese in the Language drop down menu, they'll list what's available to you. Good luck I hope you find something suitable.

Just having a look and it seems Jiangsu TV is FTA on 9east. It's not a news channel and might be abit more fun than CCTV 9 Documentary. It is the only other channel available from china. The bonus if you install the gear is you get SAORSAT on the same dish.

You won't learn Chinese from Chinese TV unless you are truly gifted. I suggest getting an interactive computer activity from Rosetta Stone or similar.

Thanks but I think my Chinese wife can understand it pretty well :D;)
I do already have the Rosetta stone software, its mainly for the missus and nipper that I am thinking about this.
