What exactly does the €2000 student registration fee cover?

Eh, what does it cover? Can't figure that one out? Does it cover registration admin? Does registration admin really cost €2000? Or maybe more like €200?

It is also known as a registration fee and it covers student services and examinations. The amount of the contribution varies from one institution to another. The maximum rate of the student contribution for the year 2011/2012 is €2,000.
