This summer we took our family (4 kids,2,4,6, & 8)to France for the first time and the kids loved it,the Mrs is now starting the search for next years destination. So I am looking for advice on good sites,we don't camp we get a big mobile home.As we will be getting the ferry my criteria is within a max 5/6 hour drive of cherbourg/roscoff.So if anybody has any suggestions fire away.

Encase it helps anybody else I will post a little bit about the 2 sites we stayed in this year. The first one was berny riviere this is a great site, while its large it has something for all the kids. This camp site is close to EuroDisney and they run a bus from the campsite,we did not use the bus but from talking to people they had no trouble with it.For your shopping go to Cora hypermarket in Soissons, ten minutes up the road. It has everything you could possibly need and is much cheaper than the local Intermarche. If you use this site a must is parc asterix,my kids loved it and found it better than disneyland.

The other site we stayed in was davy crockett ranch, the originally plan was to head to Disneyland from the first campsite but it worked out just as cheap to stay in the park as they were doing some deal were kids under 10 stay and play for free.So we basically just paid for me and the Mrs.This was a lovely ranch you had your own cabin with a bedroom, bathroom and living/dining area. This is perfect if you have got young children, while its in the park its a 15 min drive to the main area but you are give free parking so its no big deal and it saves the hassle of waiting on shuttle buses.

My kids are a bit old now - but they (and we) reckoned that Parc Asterix was more enjoyable than Disney as well.

They always had a ball at Chateau des Ormes - http://www.chateaudesormes.com/index.html - in North Brittany. It's about two hours from either Roscoff or Cherbourg.

If you play golf the bonus is that the whole complex has a proper 18 hole golf course. There's even a light aircraft landing strip, because the course is quite popular with Jersey residents.
