Just a reminder that this is on this Sunday.

Remember that you can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved !

    Fair play.
Some of us here can testify the difference bystander CPR can make when responding to a cardiac arrest call.
I hope you get a great turnout for this.

Just to further this post, and hopefully encourage people who might be thinking of taking some sort of first aid training..

From THIS POST in the Dublin City Forum.
Mods not sure if this should be in the Dublin City forum or not...

I'm looking for the female cyclist who helped me administer CPR to a man on Leeson St. Bridge at approx 10:15am this morning.

I just want to extend a huge thanks for stopping and asking if I needed help, and lending it.

If any members of boards witnessed it, I was the soldier in uniform working on the chap.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if anyone know's the lady please pass on a huge THANKS from me please as I didn't get to talk to her afterwards.

The chap survived, I met him in the Coronary care unit in St.Vincents Hospital two weeks after and have received two 'thank you' cards from him and his family.

Would love to to a CFR/OFA course, alas not in cabinteely as it's too far away. Any units actively recruiting on the Northside?

Fair play Makikomi, that must have been some ask. Wearing a uniform doesn't make it any easier I'm sure.

I was gonna do it naked, but the sight would have killed both the heart attack guy & the girl who stopped to help :p

But thanks all the same - tbh it scared the bejayus out of me.

First aid training is not compulsory in the Defence Forces, but I encourage the lads all the time, telling them that its one of the only courses in the army which teaches you to save a life as opposed to taking one.

Best of luck to you on finding a course, you'll never regret it.

One thing I've found since doing the AED is I'm always aware of AED signs & their locations in shopping centre's etc.

If you pm me your contact details and location, I'll pass your details on to the nearest Division.

Fair play to ya. It's not easy after performing CPR on someone but at least you now know that you can do it !

    Thank you.

Tbh I'm usually pretty unflappable but I was good for nothing after doing CPR on someone.

I thought he was dead when the ambulance took him away & I could still taste the man's mouth etc - it really shook me up.

It wasn't until the next morning when I rang the hospital to get some details for the army's report that I discovered he'd survived.

I've the height of respect all emergency services, if I wasn't such a softie I'd like to say there's a career in something like the DFB - but nope, I leave that to those braver than me.
