first you need to figure out what type of RAM to buy

if running linux you can use
sudo lshw -class memory | less

or in windows the application cpuz

to identify the type and speed of memory , and how many slots are in use already

then head over to shop4memory.com and run their memory configurator thingy to see what they would sell you - that will give you a starting price and a part number to check on the web

We've ordered stacks of memory off these guys:

    http://www.crucial.com/eu

If you pick your model they will guarantee the memory will work with it.

P.S. Cheapest is not always the way to go with Memory.. buy from somewhere reliable.

    +1

Always found them good, ordered a few times. They're usually by far the best value I can find on the web too after shipping to this country is included. Use the calculator and they'll tell you what you can buy from them that will work (if anything). They will tell you what the Max ram is that your system supports as well. If your laptop is a few years old, you might be limited to 2GB, so be careful before you buy 4.

It's a good idea to make sure you know what you have at the moment too. You can download 'speccy' (free) for this and it will tell you how many slots you have (probably 2) and what kind of ram is in each slot at the moment.
