Does anyone know if you can look up a birth certificate online and see the details online or anyway you can find out somebody's age? Would really appreciate any advice

Pretty sure that what you are seeking is not possible - perhaps someone can confirm ?

You cant view birth certs online - but there is an Index available on FamilySearch which covers birth references from the start of civil registration in 1864, up to 1958. Once you have possible references you can order a cert from the GRO.

For more recent cert contact the local Registration Office.
