Hi all, new to cycling forum really... was in bike shop today with an old entry level road bike which needed a service. Got talking and before I knew it, was looking at purchasing a bike through the bike to work scheme...
My dilemma is-have a Giant SCR 4.0 model (5years old purchased on Adverts.ie).. Would there be much of an improvement going up to a new Sensa bike circa €800. Sorry but can't remember the model but remember twas a high spec with all Tiagra parts (think that's the name).

I'll be honest and say i never heard of that model. Do many of you have one?Are they good? Or would it be better to get the latest entry level Giant/Trek bike which might be a little more expensive but with less accessories?

As you can see, I'm only a casual cyclist but would like to get into it more in the new year. I don't intend doing Tour de France but would like to try maybe Tour de Kilkenny 60km/100km course next year maybe.:o

    All advice appreciated

Hi, I was in same position as you with similar bike value and with similar spec.
I rode a Trek 1.2 (800 euro) for 2 weeks and saw great improvement in times cos its got shimano tiagra groupset (ours are both shimano 2300) so got hooked.
However i'm ordering a trek 2.1 for next year cos its higher spec again with shimano 105 groupset, its about 1300 euro. It all depends on how much you want to use it...If you're gonna be an enthusiast and had an extra 500 i'd go all out.
    Hope this helps ya some!

The Sensa bikes are from Holland, I dont think the frames are made there but I am sure they are designed there. I recently obtained th Sensa Calabria their top bike and am very happy with the overall look and feel of it. You can spend as much as you want on a bilke but these are certainly value for money, there Supra wheels are also great, used a set for racing last year and found they made a big difference on the Mavics I had been using
