Applying for Tesco Credit Card

Hi all, I have appplied for a Tesco clubcard credit card over 3 weeks ago online. I received letter back stating my application was succesfull and to forward on photo ID.

I did this and a week later no word back from Tesco so i rang them and they confirmed they had received the ID and they would send out the T&C for me to sign.

A week later no T&C have arrived. I never expected it to take this long and the operator would not confirm to me how long it would take to receive the card.

Just wondering has anyone else applied for a Tesco Credit card recently. Interestingly enough they havent asked me for bank statements or wage slips. Can i expect them to ask for this aswell ??

Tesco Visa application was an absolute pain in the behind.

I applied last year and it took about 3 loads of paperwork back and forth before they sorted it out. I think the reason for the confusion was that they have an office in Ireland, but most of the paperwork still comes from the main office in (I think) Sheffield or something.

So I initially send off paperwork to Dublin, then got a reply from Sheffield saying they received it, then a letter from Dublin saying I never sent it etc. Basically ended up having to duplicate the stuff I was sending to them both.

Worst thing was I wanted to get the card issued in time for my holidays and then they took about 4 weeks to resolve it. Ended up getting the card through the morning we were flying!

Haven't had any bother with them since, but the initial setup was a pain.

The same here, applied in early August, assumed I wasn't accepted. Just came back from holidays and found a letter dated on 2nd Sept! They only asked me to send bills/bank statements, but still cant believe to wait 3 weeks for letter... Will send them back and see if credit limit will cover balance transfer (hopefully...). I let you know how soon I got the card.
BTW Letter came from UK, but need to send it to freepost in dublin, possible delays there...

Applied to tesco for cc back in June!!! they keep requesting docs to confirm address because one was different to the other as we had an sli in one and not the other. Then sent in bank starment and blanked out the account number for fear it might come into the wrong hands they said it had been defaced and not acceptable (i thought they just wanted a address confirmation not my personal info) then sent them a calor statement no good as it had no date of issue which okay i get but at this stage aren't they just looking for address confirmation??? this company is too strick dealing with a big corporation with no common sense i have now sent passport, driving license, P60, bank statement, calor statment, board gass statement they still want another doc. Would advise not to send into to Dublin as them for the English address in Essex it took 4 wks for the application to be recieved from the Dublin office. gd luck

Not to mention the fact that it took them 2 full weeks to send me a replacement statement, and when it arrived it was the wrong one!!!

They are useless for applications. Tried to take one out but failed their address verification - because there was a one letter difference in the address I used to apply and the one on my utility bill! Gave up in the end as I just couldn't be bothered!

Could you tell me what credit limit you got? Im hoping to transfer a balance somewhere at a good rate, (5500).Just wondering if it would be worth my while applying to Tesco?

    thank you

Well, lucky You... I received my documents back today. The only problem is i still have not received T&C to sign. Did You have to sign it and send back before you got the card?
I am little worried as I am moving house at the end of the month, and if they won't send it before that, I will have to cancel my application. May have a problem with getting one from another provider after just moving in elsewhere. Thanks for letting us know.

    My Tesco Visa woes continue.

I've just been accepted for a mortgage, subject to confirmation that my Tesco Visa account is now closed. They claim that they posted out this confirmation at the end of Seltember but I haven't received anything. Called them this morning and they said they will send it again but it will take another 2 weeks!

    Nightmare.

After your experiences I won't be very sorry If I had to cancel. Last time I got card (about 2 years ago) was like 3 weeks from online application to receiving it. Tesco seemed like good deal, but after 2 months I am not too sure about this.

Stuck waiting for confirmation of account closure to get my mortgage through. Called TV again and they now reckon it may take 10-14 days to get to me...

BTY Tesco's offer online statements and you can get your balance texted monthly to your mobile phone IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK!! lol... really in this day and age??, back to calling the number on the back of the card to get my balance LOL

Yes had the same terrible problems with Tesco cc application. Would strongly advise against using them. They lost several sets of docs and delayed others extensively. Eventually got the card but they wanted to give a very low cc limit. Eventually got them to crack on that. Found their phone staff less than useless to deal with - I've actually come to the belief that many have an anti-Irish thing going on and deliberately screw things up (in the most polite way of course).

Applied for an additional card and after more delays and lost documents they came back late looking for all sorts of onerous additional certified copies of passports etc (and certified in a very specially awkward way as well) for the second card holder - even though I'm solely responsible for the bill being paid anyway.

Btw did you have to send certified passports or suchlike for the additional cardholder?

This is the best credit card on the irish market imo in reference to reward for use. You can get back 1% of spend in the form of gas or electricity - a real saving

I didn't but I had to post add cardholder form twice

That's true about tesco reward points, the only reason I hold and use this card on everyday basis :D

Yes that's why I joined too but their customer support is so bad (repeatedly losing paperwork, generally dragging their feet for ages, etc) that I'm seriously thinking of leaving them.

I closed tesco card acc 3 years ago and now I am back because that's the only irish credit card with some good rewards. I can leave without online banking and poor cust serv (they're good for checking recent transactions and current balance only)

I didnt think they would give anyone a new account when u closed one.

I miss the automated system. Very handy compared to talking.

I would love online banking though and maybe more exclusive offers/competitions

I'd just love if we got access to the online banking service... would be much easier to manage

Is there anything that might encourage them, a facebook campaign or something!
It must be the only cc that cant be viewed online

I rather say it's kind of discrimination of irish tesco credit card holders.
In 2008 I heard about an option to implement online banking for irish customers, but nothing has changed. what a shame for tesco

Tesco Finance's incompetence damn near cost me our dream house. Their constant fecking about with closing the account caused months of delays to the mortgage and the seller was days from pulling out.

    Useless sods.

OT but i sent a letter weeks ago to their dublin address(as per their terms & conditions) requesting a copy of my personal details held under the data pritecrion act.

I was aware a fee may apply as per their t&c's but today i received a letter from a uk address advising to send a 10GBP cheque in the business reply envelope.

Is it acceptable to expect a euro account holder pay in a foreign currency
