Started back into science this week and noticed how hard it is to actually find when and where your classes are on. Why can't nuig have an online facility whereby you type in the class code and it'll tell you when and where it's on? or do they have this already? would make things so simple..

Agreed, the timetable system is dire.
But that's hardly unusual for NUIG.

I usually sit down at the start of the year and collate all my subjects timetables into one using Google Calendar, so I can access it wherever I can get online.

Then I go into the first week lectures, find that most of them aren't actually on, or are located elsewhere, and rarely go back, because I'm a bit of a mong.

The problem is that every department has their own system. It's something that everyone complains about but it seems it would take too much effort and coordination to fix.

That said, Buildings should know what's in what room at what time, so they'd be the best department to set up such a system.

Knowing Buildings, I wouldn't go holding my breath...

And even the departments can't get it right with the lecturers. Was supposed to have a lecture at 2 on wednesday, turns out it was at 1 in another room. They had mixed it up with another module the lecturer has.
