Where would I get a lens cap?

Please move this if it's in the wrong thread.

Basically, I need a new lens cap. I lost mine a little while ago. I bought my camera, Nikon D3100, in Sam McCauley's a few months ago. The lens came with the camera, is 18-55mm thingymajig. (As you can tell, I really know what I'm talking about ;))

Other than online, where's the handiest place to get a lens cap?

Different lenses have a different diameter at the front, known as the filter size. You need a lens cap to fit this size. It's usually written on the front ring of the lens, with a diameter symbol beside it (a circle with a line through it). EDIT: Actually, I don't know if Nikon lenses have this information here. Sony ones do, so that's what I'm going on.

I don't know the Nikon lens in question, but a quick search tells me that there's Nikon 18-55 that takes a 52mm filter. Assuming this is it, you'd need a 52mm cap.

As said above, any decent camera shop would have them. If you want to get a Nikon one, expect to pay a little more (and obviously only a Nikon stockist will have them). There are generic third party ones too - Hama for instance - that will fit any lens from any manufacturer with a given filter size, and are usually a bit cheaper.

The Nikon ones have a nice pinch action on the front of the cap to release them - I have an old Hama one knocking around somewhere, and it has buttons at the edges that stick out a bit. Hama and other 3rd parties may make ones more like the Nikon design, I don't know. Whether that matters to you, I don't know either.

    Or here's one on Amazon:

Thank you. :) I know it's a bit of a stupid question, but I was a bit confused as I'm a complete novice to this.

I think they stock them at the 7dayshop too. Should have what you want. Disregard the Free Delivery though as it only applies to the UK.
