Hi all, just wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea of the cost of installing a multi fuel burning stove? We are looking to have one installed in an average size living room but have no idea what sort of cost were facing both for the purchase of the stove and the installation and would like to budget accordingly. Also can anyone tell me the main benefits if any of getting a radiant versus cast iron type and if you have had one fitted just how much of a mess did it make etc. Thanks in advance for any info.

is the fireplace you are putting multifues in, one with a back boiler, that serves hot water and heating, or is it one for hot water only, or does it not have a back boiler, this is very important in pricing, as if you have a back boiler in the fireplace that serves centeral heating ie radiators it will bring the cost a whole lot, your castiron multifuel stove will start from 500 up to 12oo euro all according to how many radiators are off it, i have the multifuel with the past 20 yrs and love it, it gives out great heat, room is toasty and i burn half what i would in an open fire

Stove would probably just be heating the one room. There's no back boiler at present just an open fire.

i have a good size sitting room, and i have the small stove without boiler, it really is a beautiful toasty room on cold winter nights, whether it is stormy or frozen outside, this keeps us comfortable, it is cheap as chips to run, mine was four hundred euro without boiler, had to get a slab about fifty euro at time, and a days work for someone to put in, it is all according to you what you want, if you want to pull down the front of fireplace, you could do that yourself, and laying the slab yourself, which would mean a couple hours paying someone else to do rest. i just put mine in front of existing opening and slab underneat and it only took about two hours, for the person to put in.
