I got my wife a mini note (3 yrs ago) from a registered computer shop. it has windows 7 starter and aside from a few factor resetings it works fine al beit a bit slow some times. However two days ago it began to get "Windows is not genuine"

the windows is a pre- installed package and the store is lidgit.

    any ideas?

Note: 2 days a go i joined the mini note book and by desktop up so i could access them from either computer, i.e i wouldn't have to go down stairs o get a movie on the main i could access the main off the mini computer. could this have started the "Windows is not genuine"

Check your update history (type 'Windows update' into the search box, select it when it comes up, and from there click 'update history') and see if you installed any updates just before this happened. Sometimes updates can cause things like this.

First try re-activating it manually. Type 'activate' into the search box and click 'activate windows' then follow the prompts. You'll probably need to type in the product key which will be on a sticker on the laptop.

If that doesnt work you might have to ring Microsoft.

    tonyheaney,

If you have to call to get this resolved, here is the list of Genuine Advantage phone numbers for Microsoft.

    Hope this helps,
