Woke up this morning to find water on the bathroom floor and a crack in my cistern!!! Have no clue how it happened - it's a 3yr old house with a 3yr old cistern I would assume! Very annoying!
Anyway, I'm wondering if this is big money to replace before I try to find a plumber? Thanks

Just contact your local plumbers merchants and get a like for like replacement. Its a quick job so shouldn`t cost too much.

Where was the crack on the cistern. If its near the top then it can actually be fixed saving you replace it.

It starts at the top (on the side with no handle) and is the whole length of the cistern...I went into a hardware over the weekend and bought some 'bond' type stuff that the guy said would be a good temporary fix...haven't done it yet though. I've tied up the ballcock for now and will have to get it fixed soon though....

Yeah thats not good. Can you take a couple of pictures of the toilet and we might be able to tell you where to get the cistern if its reconised.

Will do! It's far from two toilets I was reared;), but this is the loo nearest the hall door and is the easiest and handiest one for my son and his pals to use, so I'm really missing it:p
