Dunno if this thead has been done before,my bad if so.
Just to see what Index 1's people have real problems with or which they see as the hardest. For me it has to be the Index 1 in Portarlington, trees down the right with O/B and trees down the left with tree lined ditch right in front of the tee box on the left and a big tree in the middle of the fairway which to the eye is fairly narrow.
Terrible problems with the tee shot, i like to fade the ball and often times i try cut it and slam right into the trees on the left or if i take it down the middle i end up putting it into the trees on the right, find it very diffucult to make 4 or 5 on this hole to me its a bitch and causes serious problems thing there more mental now at this stage. if ya get a good one then there is the tree in the middle and i'd be hiiting prob 6 in and is hard to clear it cause its a big fckure. To me it the toughest i play regularly

For me it's na sneachta 13 in Druids. You almost feel relieved there with a 6. Bogey or Par are big bonuses.

7th hole roses point into a headwind. Par 4, 393 off the back two perfectly placed bunkers left and right on the fairway. More lovely bunkers up at the green and let's not forget the massive dyke in front of the green.

Can't wait to play in on Monday :D:D

7th hole (par 4) in European. Not even sure if its Index one but gotta be the toughest have played. Water left off the tee and can come into play on the 2nd shot if its into the wind. OOB all the way down the right and anything just off right edge of fairway or green is ob. Just a downwright savage tough hole but also a beauty and one of my favourites!

12th in Druids Heath (par 4) also incredibly difficult but a daft hole for me which isn't clear from the tee on how the hole is set up to be played. It tries to seduce you into cutting the corner to the right but that's blind and you can hit what you think is a good shot but be in the gorse and then they have water in front and right of the green with ob over the back for a shot of probably over 200 yards. Only way to play it is a 3 shotter. Poor golf hole.

Hardest index 1 ....7th at European Club.

It's a 470 yard par four with trouble all the way down the right and the left hand side isn't much better.

The green is quite tricky to read aswell.

A par on this is like a birdie in reality.

I'm not picking an argument here, but it's 470 yards from the back blue tees, and there aren't many people who are going to be playing the hole from back there. It's 449 from the whites, which is quite long enough. That said, the front yellow tees are at 374 which makes the hole harder than the whites because of the reed bed along the left. It's mostly out of reach from the whites but it's a serious threat from the yellows.

Any Index 1 on a links course is a brute when the wind picks up, but assuming there was no wind, my vote goes to the 12th at Druid's Heath.

Par 3 12th at Waterrock in Cork.

    240 from the back tee.
Huge tree blocking the left hand side.
OB down the right and water all down the right

I remember playing that hole when I was 14 and thinking "Holy S***!" when standing on the teebox. I played a driver down the left and got up and down for par :)

Actually parred the index 1 7th in Carlow today into a crazy headwind, must have been at least 40kph. Rarely par it on a very good day, gladly take bogey on it all day long

Druids Heath for me too. The 12th is very very hard. To put a ball on the green in 2 blows there is some feet!!!

Its quite easy to putt the ball off the green into the right hand bunker if the pin position is tough too...

It borders on silly to be honest!!!
