I was reading the paper and noticed a tiny article stating that the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland will be doing a steam train journey from Dublin, Connolly to Kilkenny this Saturday the 10th. The train will arrive in Kilkenny at 13:40 and depart at about 15:00 I think.
The steam train will be hauling mark III coaches.

I just thought I would post this here because if I didn't decide to have a glance at the paper for once I would have never known about this. It seems poorly advertised.

Unfortunately I wont be able to see the train arriving as I'm busy but I will be able to pop down to Kilkenny after 2 and hopefully snap some photo's for you if they let me on a the platform without a ticket :(

Edit: Whoops I put this on the wrong board. Can a mod move this to train and rail systems please?

The trip to Kilkenny is part of the RPSI's annual 3 day rail tour. It has been run over the last 30 years and tickets for it went on sale not long after New Year, it's website and e mail/postal lists also carried booking forms for it.

While it isn't advertised too widely, it's a case of it not needing to be as it usually is sold out and its uptake is mainly hardcore railway fans. If you are around on Saturday afternoon, there won't be a problem popping down to take a few photos.
