QFA 4 Year 'Time Limit'

I'm unable to find an answer for this anywhere. I'm wondering about the 4 year limit with passing the exams. Basically I registered for an exam next year but I have no real career reason to do them right now. Frankly, I sort of rushed into registering out of curiosity. If I'd been able to see the course material beforehand I would've been fine waiting until it was necessary. Now I'm wondering if I've screwed myself by registering and starting the clock on those four years. If I need to do them in, say, 3 years time what happens? How do I restart the clock at that point?

Weird. I figured I was just missing the answer in some FAQ. If they don't know, I mean, what the heck? :P
