Hi, all of a sudden I can't manually focus on my dslr ? Does anyone know why this has happened and if it can be fixed?? I double checked that both the lens and body are set to manual?

Nikon d80 18-135mm zoom the ring is stiff and extremely difficult to turn it will focus though. It focuses on autofocus. It's only when I want to manually turn it

    zerohamster, where art thou?

I suspect a bit of dirt or wear & tear on the manual focus mechanism. I am not an expert though - I don't know zerohamster personally but he does camera & lens repairs - I suggest you PM him.

Post the request, in the prescribe format, in The Hamster Clinic sticky. It should get a response then.

    Hey,

Sorry I never saw this thread, must have missed it somehow.
As Cabansaid said it would help if it was in the Hamster clinic sticky as I would definitely have seen it there.

That lens should be able to manual focus regardless of whether the body or lens are set the manual or auto focus so it is probably something putting too much friction on one of the manual gears/ mechanism. The 18-135mm is a bit of a finicky lens I have noticed and the focus ring can be hindered by the rear part of the lens being slightly out of alignment. Has it ever been dropped?
I can have a look at it if you would like PM me.
