Why not use a sky box without the card. This will give you the fta channels & will work with magic eyes. This is what I have done. They are not expensive to pick up.

Not sure how many channels you get in total. I know i have set up the fta channels on the blue favourite button so there would be 50 anyway.

You get the sky box without a card. When you plug it in you get the English epg so BBC 1 is at 101 ITV at 103 etc. I find there is more than enough channels & I prefer the sky layout anyway to a FTA box, but that is just my opinion . Plus the magic eye works if you want to connect it to another tv.
If you want to check what channels you will get just remove your sky card & turn off the box & put it on again.

I got the second sky box on ebay but there are many other site i.e Adverts.ie that have them. You may know of someone who has a spare.

As far as I know you can get the same channels on both.
The sky box in my opinion is fine as a fta but I'm not an expert. There are many others who post here who are in the business & would be far more knowledgeable on this than I am.

A free to air satellite receiver is much better then a sky box..
I think the best way is to get a HD combo receiver (satellite and terrestrial receiver ) . English and Irish HD programs
