    Hey all,

Regular readers may remember that I'm looking out for a cheap diesel auto saloon for someone doing about 80km a day, 5 days a week at motorway speeds.

So today I found a 1997 automatic 1.9 TDI B5 Passat that looks in good nick anyway and I'm going to go have a look later on, hence this thread..

I already know about things like checking under the mats for dampness, checking the engine code to see if the TDI really IS a TDI or a TDi :p and I know (from my previous B5.5 model) that things like the door locks can cause problems.

Aside then from checking for these and things like rust, what else should I be on the look out for?

    Cheers!
