Hello everyone , i`m new to this so bare with me. i have myson radiators in house and theres one downstairs thats not working, i have followed instructions on removing trv and tapping the pin , but pin was already loose. the problem is that the pipe going into the radiator is not even warm, all other rads are perfect, Is there anything i can do or do i need to get a plumber in ? tHANKS FOR LOOKING.

The odd time the valve might need to be replaced, heres what i would do
    1. ensure the lockshield valve on the otherside of rad is defo open .
    2. i would turn off the other rads and turn on the heating and see does that get it going .

If neither of these work you are looking at 2 likely possibilites
    1. rad valve needs replacing
    2. blockage in pipe to rad
Either of these i would get a plumber in as it involves draining down some of the system.

Look i will give ya instructions but if your not sure just go away and get a plumber in , someone with the relavent knowledge and gear would do this job fairly quickly.
Try what i said about turning off other rads and turning on the heating and see if it helps before attempting this.
Also this will only work if its a problem with valve , if its a blocked pipe it will do nothing for you.
This is the way i would do it.
    1. Turn off all other radiators , i somtimes turn off both sides to guarentee minimal water lost.
    2. Is your system sealed or open , If open at the small tank in the attic tie up the ballcock . if sealed just ensure you dont touch the fill loop till you go to refill it.
    3. your going to need to drain off the excess water and pressure have a look around on the radiator pipework downstairs and see is there a drainoff connection to connect a hose to if there is thats your best way to drain the excess pressure .
    4. Easiest option is to usually replace it with the exact same type of valve if possible so go away and purchase a replacement.
    5. Use grips and shifters or spanners to remove the old valve and replace with new valve ensuring to put a little bit of boss white on the olives before you reconnect.

As i said if you dont feel competent to do it , get a pro in, if you mess this up you could end up soaking your floors and much worse .
