Are students of UCC (and CIT) able to avail of the student prices (75 cent) of the City services?

I was on the 19 the other day and asked for a student ticket. The driver said that those were only available for under 16s. Is that right? Seeing as the intercity/town services give student fares to college students, I don't think it is. If he were right, then schoolboys/girls that are in 4th/5th/6th year wouldn't even be allowed to avail of this fare. Allowing kids affordable travel to school was surely one of the main reasons this was introduced?

Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks.

It is correct - the student fares on that bus applies to school children - all school children wearing uniform right up to 6th year. The buses that operate around Cork city i.e. the city/town service which are numbers 1-19 I think use this policy. However the suburban services, which are the three digit numbered buses use a student fare for college students on presentation of a student card.

Also the student weekly/monthly tickets are for college students as well as second level students on all routes
