I'm looking to join a golf club in 2012 and I'm looking for suggestions or clubs near Dublin. Ideally 30-40mins from the centre of Dublin with a fee of circa €1,000 and an option of payment by monthly direct debit. I have some ideas (Dunmurray Springs, Knockanally and Hollystown) but would like to hear more!!

    Hey,

That thread is from nearly a year ago so not particularly relevent to the query..

I'm currently member in Dunmurry Springs, while a good course I'm looking to get closer to Dublin. Membership in Dunmurry for next year is €950 so looking for something around to same, preferably around south dublin, any ideas?

What is the deal with Dunmurry Springs ..... they are advertising full membership for €900 INCLUDING 5 day mship of Glasson, Seafield & Druids Heath. Is that not on offer to current members?

Yeah, is available to current members (I had said €950, that was 2011 sub)....
Arrangement with other three clubs is new for 2012, not sure would be much use to me though as is only useable weekdays..............

Interesting that they have a crucial EGM on a bank holiday weekend !!! I will be away in hotter climates and can't attend. However, I expect it could be entertaining ..... members want answers and no doubt those in charge are going to spin a story or two. They really need cut their cloth to measure and take a look at what they actually want from the club ..... some want a championship course, many just want a course they can play.

Its a pity its got to this, but if the annual subs are not greatly reduced ..... I'm off to a greener pasture and more than a few others are of a similar mind.

    What about yourself?

That thread is updated regularly if not almost daily at times and it has all the relevent info the OP asked for with club prices compiled alphabetically by a very generous poster Golfwallah. (Click on the last page not the first !) Read the charter under General Posting Guidelines. see below

    General Posting Guidelines
Please navigate around the forums before starting a new thread. Use the search function if you think something may have been posted before.
Before you post a thread, consider the following:

    - If you've a question about too-good-to-be-true deals from a Chinese website then yes, it is too good to be true.

    - If people want to read larger or smaller fonts then let them control that with their own browser. Don't format your post in 'headache'.

    - Is what I'm about to post relevant, coherent and funny or in any way interesting?

    - Does it add to the forum or is it another thread which is taking up space?

    - Has it been posted before?

-Is it suitable for this forum?

I expect for there to be a few disagreements.

I joined at the start of the year and paid 1500 euro I've played about 20 times not a great return on investment. In fairness I had to change job in may and now work one or two Sundays in the month. With no mid week SINGLES opens it isn't worth me staying especially to play a course which is not maintained to the standard of the yearly sub. It looks like I am going to join Kilcock. I like the course it suits my game and the pro is a friend. 1050 until feb 2013 is a good price too. The course is very well maintained. There is also an open on Thursday and Friday every week (Sumer months) plus comp on Saturday and Sunday, which will give me a lot more options to play it.

The only thing that would keep me at Arklow and if it happens I will be happy because potentially it is one of leinsters top courses, one of the most difficult anyway, is a singles open one or two days a week, A passionate green keeper and a full reshuffle of the powers that be. Some of the wages I heard some were getting are absolutely rediculous.

Still I'm not holding my breath. Roll on the 30th. I will update you when it happens.

Fair play, lot of people on here who think they own the place. There is always something new to learn from an up to date thread on an issue. Don't mind the look up old thread crap. They are out of date and the world is in flux since the celtic tiger is over. There is grounds to ignore all old threads on issues. Who ever heard of a 15 month deal. The world is a new place and boards needs new threads from you. Who could ever have imagined that NAMA would own a golf course . Old threads are dead. :D
