    Anyone here use it?

Been missing around with the free player you get with maschine and my mates full version.

I really like the range of noises on it and the variety of synths, grooveboxes, effects and sound generators.

Im particularly intrigued by this instrument

    Metaphysical function:

You can get some really interesting soundscapes from it. Recently ive been letting it play for five minutes or so whilst changing the parameters every so often and hitting the randomise button while recording the results. Then going back to the sample and cutting bits out and using them as sounds in my tracks.

Another thing thats got me intrigued is the way you can build your own synths has anyone any experience at doing this? Id like to give it a go but it looks quite daunting!

It's similar to PureData or Max. It's quite a task to really learn it but you can go as deep as you like. You can work with very high level things such as ready made presets and wire them together or further, working with oscillators or filters or you can go even further again to what these are made up.

It's good in that respect as anyone with a bit of synthesis knowledge and MIDI could get a working synth and the better you get the more you can tweak and really create something unique.

Also the sound quality is great, you can render at 192khz and very high control rates.

Reaktor is great, as are most graphical programming environments....Wouldn't say reaktor is better or worse than any of the others though. Since it's free, have a look at Pure Data before investing in Reaktor. Alternatively if you really want to spend money on something like this.....Max/MSP 6 is out pretty soon and it is honestly a lot more versatile than Reaktor, and features much better documentation and support to ease you into the process of building synths, general DSP etc etc... Hope this helps.

    Yeah.

I played with it a few years back.

An excellent tool for sound design if you're doing a Vin Diesel film.

    It is actually really great.

Love Reaktor. Seems to me might be all you need. It's got everything.
    Love the sound generators too.
Found myself using it more and more lately. They made huge improvements with the interface in version 5. Version 4 was a bit all over the place I thought.
