    hi all,

my friend tractor was stolen from an outfarm.

he had taken a deposit of 1200 for it from guys from czech rep and they said they would collect it when he would have the taxbook etc (approx 10 days) for it
he wanted them to pay in full and take the tractor with them then and there and he would send on taxbook.
and he wrote them a receipt and said that was ok.. few days later the tractor was taken and a quad bike.
he contacted police who are able to do nothing anyway and then the guys who now want their money etc.. but in the back of his mind he thinks it was these guys who took it but not sure..

whats his rights or what should he do -tractor sold for 6000

Moved here from 4x4 & Tractors & Diggers & Plant forum as more of a legal issue than technical.

There's not much you can do unfortunately unless you can prove that these chaps stole the tractor. Best thing you can do is to report your suspicions and reasons for same to the Gardaí. Ultimately, you will have to give the "buyers" the deposit back.

must agree deposit must be handed back.but machines/plant are been stolen big time here and gardai are very slow off the mark about it.but what u can do is when handing money back is follow them.thats what i would do get a few cars and see where it leads

Try and take photos of them and get details of cars they drive, then raise it with Gards

ok thanks, hes not sure it was even them but he has tractor 8 years at this place and never a problem until now.

he took the guys to the outfarm to view the tractor, its a fairly remote part of the country anyway .. they were happy with it and told him they would collect when all sorted then its taken, maybe a coincidence
