Warhammer 40k in Donegal?

Hi Guys, I'm more or less new to the Warhammer gaming experience. I had a friend in Glasgow who was big into it, moreso fantasy than 40k. He would show me his armies and gaming boards which got me interested. I browsed the shelves of a few GW shops but didnt make any meaningful purchases.
After I moved to Ireland my interest subsided due to work etc. but I now have rekindled this interest and would like once again to protect our Galaxies from marauding forces of darkness.

Anyways, does anyone know of any clubs in the NorthWest Donegal Area e.g. Letterkenny or west of Letterkenny?

Maybe I'm being paranoid but would members mind about a 40 something adult male turning up looking for beginners advice?

Has anyone come across people of over a specific age not being made welcome?

I haven't been to any Warhammer clubs before so please forgive my ignorance.

    Thanks Guys

I can't help with recommending clubs unfortunately, as I'm in Dublin, but I wouldn't worry about the age thing. Assuming you don't try to join a club specifically aimed at school children!

My club, the Dublin Games Guild has people from about 18 up to 50 odd - I'm 33. Most clubs have people of at least 30+, many have people a good bit older than you. Some clubs are split into a junior and senior section (ie, 16 or 18+). I can't tell you what there is in Donegal, but I'd swear I've heard mention of Letterkenny wargaming, so hopefully someone will come along and help on that.

A good option is to have a look for events in the area.
The only club I know in that general area would be the northernwasters.

I dug up some club info from w-ired

    Nice one. Thanks.
A little travelling involved to get there. I'm on the far west coast and unfortunately Larnes on the far east coast. I've just found out there is a place in Letterkenny selling Warhammer stock, they should know if theres anything happening locally.
All the same it will be worthwhile comparing prices between Arkham and the place in Letterkenny.
    Again, thanks themurphyfella

Yes lad! Buncrana man myself, there's a club in Magee that's quite small but familiar enough with the game and the Irish Wargaming scene that it might be worth contacting them, darraghmagee@hotmail.com is your man.

    All the best,
    Joe

Your best bet is probably PMing these guys. Also, Warmaster is from Donegal, give him a shout.

Hi, Quozl, did you have any luck about the warhammer games?
I'm 36, not played for about 10 years but would love a game. Used to play warhammer, warhammer40k and bloodbowl, and rpg's like Cyberpunk 2020 and D&D etc.
I live in Derry now and haven't found anyone interested in gaming since my university days.
Like you , i was wary going to new place due to age. Have u been in any contact with any groups local , ie letterkenny or derry?

I think you mean clanpiper, GRAHAMR32.

I'm an oldie too, but I'm a regular wargamer. In Dublin though.

I think there's a Bloodbowl Ireland page on Facebook, or something similar to that name anyway, where people organise games etc with each other. Might be worth having a look at it.

    Hi there,
I'm coming out from Australia for Christmas 2012 and will be staying in Bundoran. I'm bringing my Night Lords along to make the holy pilgrimage to Warhammer World in Jan. Does anyone know if there is a gaming scene in Bundoran or Ballyshannon that would welcome a foreigner?

    Cheers,
    Adrian
