Ok i know there is a section for motorbikes but tought i would try here frist as an engine works the same way on a bike and a car and alot more people use motors.

I have a motorbike its been of the road years the last time the engine was working was when it was out of the bike on a bench and it was runing fine after being rebuild. Then when i brought it home put it back in to the bike it would not start.

I want to get this going and fix it up were do i start i know my self it is down to something small like the starter is not woking or a lose cable. Just not sure what i should be checking eg should there be x amount of power going to y to rule out something.

It would help to know the make and model.

Presume it's electric start and not kick start?

Do you have ign lights? Have you tried it on a push or is it auto / moped?

    Make : Yamaha

    Model : Vi
    rago

Electric start ign light on and no joy on a puch even down a hill :(

When i press the start button there is not even the sound of it trying to do anything.

Well if the ign light is on the ign is getting power so if the starter motor is not turning then it's either shagged or not connected right. If everything else is ok it should still start on a push. Explain what you are doing when trying to push start.

did you check the clutch cut out switch?
re-connect the earth on the engine?
did you try crossing the soleinoid?

what part of the country are you?
