1.3 Diesel or 1.4 Petrol

    I am looking at a Opel Astra, one is a 2007 1.3 Diesel the other is a 2008 1.4 Petrol. Both are the same price. Which one would be the best to go for...I have no idea the difference between diesel and petrol.

    Id go for the 1.3 Diesel it would be alot cheaper to run

    Depends on how many miles you do per year.

    Cheaper to tax the '08.

    I had a 1.3 diesel opel van which is probably the same engine and it was a great machine, load more power than you would think for a diesel.

    The 1.3 diesel is a reliable engine once serviced correctly.

    The choice depends on what sort of driving you do, modern diesels are not suitable for frequent short trips(school,shops etc).
