I'm starting first year tomorrow and was wondering about stuff like will I get my timetable tomorrow in the course introduction or when I register? Is the gym free? Are there any annual socials/balls? Is the cantine cheap?

will I get my timetable tomorrow in the course introduction or when I register? :You'll get your timetable tomorrow I'm 99% sure of that

Is the gym free? : Yes the gym is free, you just have to fill out a small form. It's not exactly a huge gym now but it does the job.

Are there any annual socials/balls? Clubs and Socs ball towards the end of the year, that's pretty much it on the ball front (hehe, ball front). There's usually plenty of socials during the year, around freshers week and rag week especially.

Is the cantine cheap? : Cheap enough for a sandwich and such, about 5e/6e for a dinner.

Canteen food's not great. But it's not awful either. It's what you'd expect I suppose.

Protip: Avoid the curry sauce. It's awful and tastes like it looks (brown and watery lol)

To be honest though, you'd be better off bringing lunch, or going up to blanch shopping centre or across the road to centra if you're feeling non-lazy and have time to kill.

I think it's expensive. At least, I couldn't afford to eat in it all week.

The worst part is the queueing for food.
