    Hey folks,

I'm still new to this photography lark, I'm not even 3 months into it :)

In that time though, I've really come to enjoy flickr and like it a lot, even to the point of getting a pro account.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been seeing more and more; Flickr is dead, Google+ is better than Flickr stories.

I was hoping that some of you folks that have been at this longer could share some opinions on this.

    - Should I be sticking with flickr?
    - Is google+ just the next shiny

    That sort of thing.

    Thanks folks.

If you just want to host and share then google+, flickr, or a thousand other similar sites are about as useful as one another. Flickr has some advantages in the social sphere over google+ because it's domain specific. The problem I have with g+ at the moment is that their flickr integration sucks. If you have a photos.google (picasa) account you get very nice presentation of your shared images, the flickr integration is a lot more rudimentary. Hopefully that'll be fixed once they get their API opened up, because I'm sure as hell not re-uploading everything I have on flickr to g+

    Thanks Daire,

A couple of things, what is picasa like online? I've used the desktop app and it seems a bit clunky.

    And something you said stood out;
If you just want to host and share

The only other thing I can think of I would want would be a more professional portfolio, if I was going down that road. Is that what you meant?

i don't think flickr is dead. i would stay with flickr, but use 500px for a portfolio style place to keep your best photos.
i have a g+ account but wouldn't use it for photos. all IMO of course!

IMO is good, I always like to get people's points of view.

    Thanks.

Just thinking about google+, it would be good to hook up with some of you fine folks on that platform, so either post here or PM me.

Additionally if anyone wants an invite let me know as I still have a bunch left.
