Hi, was it her only key? And which model and year was it?

at that price i'd visit my scrappy, get a fly window, ecu, locks, ignition barrel, key.

Back to the he car, burst the fly window, pop bonnet, disconnect battery and fit the new bits. Even if you have no mechanical know how, paying an out of work mechanic etc would save you at least €500

    That can't be right.
    Find different dealer.
They don't have to do anything with the car.

When you provide them with your car VIN number and proof of ownership, they must be able to make and code the key for you. They don't need access to your car at all for that process.

Cutting the key from code will open the car but ecu needs to be programmed with key. IE you can't get a key in the dealer, go down to laois and drive home.

Try lock doctor or similar, there may be a back door technique that doesn't cost a bomb

I thought it works other way. It's the key which is programmed with the same code as original one. Nothing has to be done in the ECU.

That's most likely going to be the cheapest option,.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case although I may be wrong. I know you can pair like 6 keys to the ecu and knock any one of them off via a hiscan computer.
I've done this myself but don't know if the actual key code changes, I don't think it does.

    I may be wrong obviously
