    We have both a 6year old 3 and 6. As Lightning says they are pretty much bulletproof. Have never had either breakdown though the 6 is a bit heavy on brake pads (which in reality means I'm a bit heavy on brake pads!). My only quibble with the 1.4 ltr 3 is that it seems slightly lethargic, but I think thats just because I am used to the 1.8 6 which is very responsive.

    They are based on the Ford Focus with a mix of Ford and Mazda bits. Petrol engines are Mazda, diesels are from Ford who get them from Peugeot and Citroen. Very little goes wrong with them and they are well put together.

    On that particular 2008 one, its the higher spec Touring and make sure it is on the cheaper of the two motor tax systems.
