    I love seeing people properly dressed up for a wedding, in particular wearing long dresses. So many people just don't make an effort, and tbh how many times in your life do you get the chance to wear a gorgeous gown? At the last wedding I was invited to there were several people wearing full length gowns and just as many who didn't bother dressing up at all-jeans and casual tops. Guess who stood out more? The latter!

    The latter means the last one mentioned....i presume ya mean the dresses stood out, so its the "former".

    Former=first
    Latter=last

    Thats how i remember it, or am i completely wrong???:p

    I think Shinikins meant that the people wearing jeans and tops stood out, in other words that you wouldn't look OTT in a long dress!

    They stood out for the wrong reasons I assume! :P

    No I definitely meant the latter. At an event as special as a wedding, people who don't bother the make an effort stand out more, and for all the wrong reasons. IMO its the bride who should be remembered for what she was wearing, not the guests.

    Was at a wedding down your country recently.
    Left a beautiful silk ball gown on the shelf, fearing it would be ott.
    Ending being almost the only younger woman not in a full length gown!
    You'll be fine.
