Ever eat cereal but not at breakfast?

Do you feel like your cheating? I had cereal for dinner the other day and I felt so strange.

It got me thinking, cereals are usually quite healthy and nutritional....if you were to eat one for breakfast, lunch and dinner not only would you be saving some money but you would be eating well with less crap and carbs etc.

Ok, I will shut up now!

That's what they want you to believe! <cof> Porridge is the best </cof>

But yeah I admit I do have a sneaky bowl of something when late in the evening I'm going through the presses wondering what to snack on. Oh wait no, that's an ad for Special K. Silly me.

Whenever I even so much as have a thought of possibly eating cereal, I cook steak and eggs.

Are you serious? Cereals are practically all carbs, are you really that clueless about nutrition that you thinking eating cereals all the time would be healthy? The mind boggles

Aye. Cereals have the sugar kick to them but porridge releases energy slowly through the morning.

    Or here for more info.

I've been told to ask the farmers who supply the oats and other cereals to see how they "preserve" their harvest prior to it being shipped...

It put the old guy who told me the story off porridge despite it being his life long breakfast staple.

I was thinking more a long the lines of cutting down on heavy carbs that don't digest easily like breads, potatoes and chips etc.

Although, I am a bit clueless about diet and stuff!! :(

Actually, I heard Special K has one the the highest levels of sugar compared to most cereals.

I do like porridge but I find it far too heavy! I wouldn't be able to eat for the rest of the day!

I love a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes or any cereal that comes in cluster form (although unfortunately the clusters always seem to be broken up when I buy them). I usually eat them in the evening or at night and hardly ever for breakfast. Actually I rarely eat breakfast.

I like to reheat the 2nd kebab I brought home from the night before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

I love the end of the pack of corn flakes, Special K or Frosties where it's all like sand or dust, turns lovely with the milk :D

Fair enough. The fact of the matter is that cereals are not healthy at all. Here's a long article here about it (you can skip to the conclusion on page 58).

Basically they are full of anti-nutrients, don't have the correct ratio of vitamin minerals and macronutrients for them to suffice as a staple of ones diet and cereal proteins can interact in horrible ways with your body

porridge or eggs or some other protein and fats

I don't eat cereal really, but my mother buys it. I might have it as a snack once in a blue moon.

Porridge is a cereal too, in moderation it's not too bad but I don't see the point of eating something regularly that's not healthy, even if you are having no ill effects it's still displacing more nutritious foods.

I don't eat any grains generally and have eggs for breakfast
