Sorry for starting a whole new thread for this one question!

Just wondering how much are scallops, roughly?

I am planning on doing them as a starter in a couple of weeks for 5 people. Would 3/4 each be about right?

I think they're generally at least 20+ euro a kilo without shell probably more likely 30+ euro. As far as i remember Queen scallops are cheaper and smaller.

I'd say expect to pay up to a Euro each.
3 - 4 would be about right for a main course.

Queen scallops are good, but hardly ok to serve as the main attraction of a dish. Usually good to mix into a sauce. Having said that we served them at the Dublin bay taste and music fest the other weekend, deep fried with a chilli mayonaisse (see att)
