MGZT Diesel Buzzing Noise at Motorway Speed -- Opinions

    Lads,

As the title states I have a MGZT Diesel Mark 11 04 its a lovely car around normal roads not a rattle from it however once I'm on a motorway from 110kph to 120kph there is a load buzzing / humming noise which appears to come from the middle of the dash somewhere behind the radio.

Its really annoying if your on a long motorway spin Limerick - Dublin which I will be doing more of in the next while for work. Any opinions on what the fix / problem is?

It must be something loose that vibrates when you reach certain speed. Revs on the engine doesn't cause it to happen so must be something down to air flow I'm guessing. Once you hit 110kph it starts and gets worse from that up once you drop back down to 100kph not a sound.

    Any help would be welcome.

I don't know what the problem is but I do have a solution - turn up your stereo :D

My MGZR has/had loads of these little rattles, the sunroof fixings, the steering column cover and the stereo was a big culprit. I fixed most of mine with the little adhesive sponge pads you can buy and that tied the poor fitting trim together without the rubbing and rattling.

Try replacing the pollen filter as this is the only entry point for air into the
    cabin.
Also check the the under engine tray as this can work loose.

    Thanks guys,

Tried the radio trick and is fine for a short spin but 2hrs up and then back from Dublin and u'd be deaf so not a long term solution.

It doesn't apprear to be a trim problem. The ZT seems relatively well put together or at least mine is so far, (que a whole load of rattles appearing by the end of the week ), and there aren't any real trim rattles squeaks.

You'd be surprised how those noises sound.

I though I head some noise coming from the engine bay and it turned out to be a rattle from the light in the headliner.
