After moving from the just outside the city bounds to an apartment in the city, so I was changing my account setting for "live in location"

So I was updating my Axa account online and they're looking for an extra 57e from me... this is despite my car being actually safer now that I'm parked in an enclosed underground car park only residents can access, as opposed to the housing estate I was in.

I've given my "home home" address in another county as where to post out their documentation - when I change my say I'm living there, there is no premium change - can I just say I'm living there?

    Of course you can.

You can say whatever you want :)

When it comes to the crunch and your Indemnity is ever checked by them however, they can refute your claim for your vehicle and look to recover all of their losses on any third party claim directly from you and even seek a judgement for the same against you too.

    Thats if it warrants it.

Well I do spend most weekends and the odd midweek evening back at 'home home', and 99% of my correspondence (health insurance, tax, bank statements, vodafone) basically, everything bar the ESB bill goes there..?

I've moved house 5 times in 4 years so I do have a reason for sending stuff to that location.

Standard underwriting question is "Where will the vehicle spend at least four nights of the week?"

So if your car is generally parked at "home home" Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the ocassional grab a dinner from Mammy (can't beat mammies cooking) Tuesday or Wednesday then your safe to do so. :)

Just an off topic tip for renewing, don't do it online until you ring Axa and look for a better quote. Tell them AA or Aviva gave you a quote of X and if Axa can match it you will give them the business. Obviously your quote X will have to be better than the Axa online quote. They usually knock about 80 euro off for me.

Thanks for the tip - I'm only half way through my insurance year though, I was just updating my details as I've moved in the past couple of weeks.

I might just ring them and say I'm between the two places most weeks (home home and city)

I moved a good distance away from my family home.

When I did I spoke to my Insurer and explained that whilst the risk address has changed the vehicle will spend more of it's week at the old family home.

We agreed (and have done with other Insurers) that as I dont know where I am always going to be and that as a matter of probability that the vehicle will most likely spend MOST of it's week at the Family home that we would use this address.

That said, if I get robbed and my car is taken at my current address I believe I would be covered for my loss as I declared that the vehicle will spend a certain amount of time there too.

I need a wee rest after thinking that out.

You can if you want but if your car got nicked from outside your actual residence it isnt covered, simple as that.

Saving yourself 50 quid now could potentially cost you a helluva lot more in the event of a claim.
