How much would it be worth ?

Right, I'm driving a 04 Corsa (:o) and I'm really getting sick of it.....!!!

Its got 2 owners from new, NCT 01-2012. Just had a full interior and exterior valet and only has 50.000 miles.

Since about July I've noticed its gotten a little noisy. Brought it to a mechanic and he reckons its head gasket. He says its not gonna go anytime soon, I'm not sure though. Its not major, just a little noisier. Like a diesel.

So, what would it be worth as it is now ? Any ideas ?

    Thanks

As is probably around €1500 as it will need to be repaired and will be less desireable to buy, here's 2004 Corsas on Donedeal. http://www.donedeal.ie/find/all/for-sale/Ireland/corsa%202004?sort=price

Was hoping to get around €1500, thanks

There is no noise associated with a failing head gasket. I'd say he just mentioned the first common corsa issue he thought of as opposed to checking the car properly.

If corsa's only do small mileage or haven't had the correct oil used then the chain/tensioner can become noisy over time. I'd say this is a much more likely cause assuming you are having no other running issues.

Have you checked your oil level?

I agree with the doc on this one. NEVER have i heard of a noise being the symptom of a head gasket on the way out. Unless of course the sound is like a kettle boiling :p

If its "like a diesel" may i suggest the very common and silly noise that comes from the hydraulic tappets?

Wouldn't beother me hole going back to him, even to suggest he is wrong, because you'll get no joy. Just head down to another mechanic, and ask him what he reckons.

I'd be more inclined to bring it to a different mechanic...
