    Heya,

Im posting this on behalf of my severly stressed mother who owns a Renault Megan 1.4.

The cars been in and out of the mechanics since she bought the damn thing - between the main brain dying and busted eletrical windows she's nicknamed it the Megane 50 as the flaming thing costs 50 quid a week.

Lately its been cutting out a LOT. Sometimes if you press the brake instead of the clutch itl start but now if she stops at traffic lights itl cut out. Even today when we were driving past Drogheda Train station she changed down gears just after the railway bridge and the car just completely cut out.

(for once the first person to pull up was a garda car! >,< ) Once we towed the car off to a side street we left it for 15-20 mins and then it started no problem! (much to mum's chargain!)

Were thinkin its an overheating problem but if anyone has had this problem or even a solution ...(my mams is a set of matches and firelighters funnily enough! :P) let us now as its driving us MENTAL!

Whats makes you say its over heating? How is the coolant level, was the temp gauge in the red, was there steam coming from under the bonnet?

Here's a post from honestjohn, apparently stuff going just plain wrong on Renaults was common around the early 2000's. Though it's the 1.2 Clio in this case, the general manufacturing seems to be similar from those years with problems for most of there range.

To solve your heartache, maybe trade it into a renault dealership and get the new fluence, they seem to have little problems so far?
