    Hi,
Just moved into a new house.
Was looking around the attic and spotted this.
The Hot water expansion tank is disconnected and theres a red tank and pressure gauge thing that I've never seen before.
Can anyone tell me what it is and what it does? There's OFCH in the house but only a gas fireplace.
Is this an update to the old system?
The pressure gauge is on zero, is this right?
    Thanks for any help

The system has been converted to a pressurised system, and no the pressure should not read zero.

previously you would have had an open system incorporating the feed and expansion tank,it has since been changed to a sealed system. The red vessel is an expansion vessel to allow for expansion in system now that its sealed.the valve is feeding your heating system and should not be at zero, generally should be one to one and a half bar pressure,it may need to be adjusted at bthe spindle to allow more water in or if tank fed may not have enough pressure to do so.maybe advisable to get a plumber to have a look at the system or a knowlegable friend!!
