    Hi Guys,
Myself and my mate have just moved into our new house, were going to college and don't have much money to spend on TV, would we be better off getting a freeview box instead of getting a sky package ? And if we would be better off getting a freeview box, which one should we get? Thanks in advance.

Unless you live in the 6 counties a freeview box will not work. Have you bothered to read any of the information here?

I live in Dublin 18 and half my neighbours have big Yagi aerials pointing north to Camlough near Newry for Freeview plus a large number of people along the east coast down as far as Rosslare pick up Freeview from Wales.

OP, your profile says you're in Athlone. What you'll need for the Irish stations is a UHF aerial pointing to Cairn Hill in Co. Longford to pick up Saorview and if you want free UK TV channels you'll need a dish and a Freesat decoder. The UHF signal in Athlone is very strong, if you look around the town you'll see most people use those cheap contract aerials so you don't need anything fancy.

It may be possible to get a combi box as I believe the UK Freeview HD boxes are compatible with Saorview so if you got a Freeview HD/Freesat combi box you'd be in business but you'd need to check that over in the Terrestrial forum.

Edit: just spotted this, exactly what you need...
