Best time for Whale Watching

I did a search and saw a few threads on this with various options for where to go etc. but nothing recently. Just wondering when is a good time of year? I was thinking of going sometime in the last 2 weeks of September. From what I read that would seem to be a decent time to see whales?

Cork is a bit out of the way for me so want to make sure it's worth it if I'm making the journey down. Took a look at the IWDG website but there didn't seem to be any sightings listed very recently.

    Thanks

    Did you see this thread?

It would seem from that, that this time of year isn't bad to go looking.

Yea saw that one, everyone on that thread seems to only have seen dolphins, which are fairly common around the coast. I recall reading/seeing an article about that particular whale watching event in the news and they specifically specified that it wasn't at the ideal time of year for whale watching which is just why I was asking here.
