I knew that car when it was new and it was top spec at the time. They're very comfy cruisers and well suited to long distance driving so if that's what you intend doing, it could be a good fit.

However, I would recommend having a mechanic with you to give it an inspection as even though it looks well cared for, any potential issues could cost you dearly and should be built into the buying price.

The 2.2 diesel was a nice engine, I drove a 406 with it and it was an extremely well-rounded car, I would have loved to have bought one at the time, but there were only a handful in the country and very hard to find.

Looks like 153,000 miles to me!

That's all the input I have on that particular car bar they still look very good and that particular one has a lovely colour combo.

    LimerickMan,
I just had a wee lok at the pics again and on the spedometer the miles is the inner circle, would this not mean that the car is km???

I think if that is 153k miles then, 4.5k is quite expensive for a car that could have some expensive problems down the line... There is a big difference between 153k km and 153k miles... Nice car though

It does look like its miles on the outside and km on the inside...

Looks like 153K miles to me. I had a 2001 Pug 607 2.2 petrol (robbed me in juice). While it was a seriously comfortable car, there was too much bad French electronics with alarms going off for everything. In the end, even the alarm if I forgot to put on my seatbelt used to send a shiver down my spine as I used to think I had another fault. Maybe it was just my car. This car looks good but I reckon the price is too dear - my tuppence worth. Good luck if you buy it.

If you look closes under the centre point of the dial you'll see KM in small writing. I'm fairly sure it's someone who knows well it's kms, trying to pass it off as miles and waste peoples time.

No its miles, as LM said KPH on the inside and Mph on the outside.
It drives me ****1ng mad when I see this. This is the first lie this seller has told you.

Worse again, when you confront the seller about the KPH/MPH error, they deny it.

That would be it for me. Wouldn't trust them as far as I could spit.

There are better examples out there for that money.
    Good luck. Lovely motor.

I see now said the blind man!;)

I just rang and low and behold the seller didn't no if it was km or miles,he said that a mechanic told him it was km.I'll be keeping a wide berth from this 607.Got it is so frustrating seerching for an honest,Irish seller with a good clean car.

    It's in miles.

I remember it for sale in Slattery's in Puckane.

I think the dealer owned it in fact

Looks like the seller changed it to miles, it is now far to expensive at 4.4k...

My brother drove one as a company car and loved it - extremely comfortable.
He was shocked at the massive depreciation when it went back to the leasing company after 2 years.

I remember one of its ancestors, the Peugeot 604, with the V6 petrol engine, was the only car ever to depreciate 90% from new in 4 years. That was back in the early 80s :D

I'd say the Alfa 166, Renault Avantime and Vel Satis would give that Peugeot a run for its money! :D

Walk away, based on the ad he's an arse and based on him "not knowing" he's an arse.

Edit: The ad is changed, now miles.

He's also anticipating the "Negotiation" process well in advance so I reckon he's a seasoned enough player:

4400 EUR. (NO RUSH, NO SILLY OFFERS , PLS)

No time waisters, no private numbers, pls

    * No swap offers, Thanks - cash ONLY!

His tax is out October, so there's definately a "rush" on his part- he's finished with the car, not interested in taxing it again is my guess, and figures 6-7 weeks is enough to get it sold....tax on this will be high enough...what's the MPG like?
