    First time poster, long time reader.

    Do you think the Irish media trolls the people every day? Honest answer please.

    Some of the stories are just put up day after day to get people angry, that's all, and people fall for it every time....

    It's not the anger per se they are going for, it's the sales. If anger drives sales, so be it.

    Likewise, page 3 sells by sex. It's not because they want to make the public horny. It's just another sales line.

    Totally. Yellow journalism is all about getting people angry enough or emotive enough to buy the rag. The Mortgage relief thing gained legs because tyhe media jammed it down people's throats despite politicians saying it wasn't going to and couldn't happen.

    Doesn't that reflect badly on the Irish public for buying into it so easily....
    I often read stories and think 'they'll be moaning about THAT on boards'

    Not trolling. But there can often be an agenda. The preposterous idea of wide scale debt forgiveness was given some credence by the usual shower of hacks in the Sindo.

    It's not like the Irish public is particularly unique in that regard. Look at the Sun, the Mail, the Express. Little words writ large.

    It's not trolling when it's in the media, it's either;

    Hysteria
    Propaganda

    Depending on the context.

    In fairness he does tend to magnify those factors of a subject which will court the most controversy.
