Parrott car kit turning off intermittently

Hey folks, ye might be able to help me with the best way to solve this one...

So I recently changed my car and the new one came with a nice Parrot bluetooth handsfree kit. Unfortunately, the thing turns itself off from time to time. This isn't any kind of power saving mode either, the unit actually totally loses power and reboots. Sometimes it could happen 3 times in a 10 minute period, more times it might go 3 hours without switching off.

My guess is that some wire is loose but I dont want to go rooting around because the thing is connected into the car radio behind panels, and I dont want to do more harm than good.

Any suggestions on the best way to get this thing fixed or has anyone experienced this problem before? I'm willing to pay someone to do the job as long as it definitely fixes the problem.

In case it helps, the model is a Parrot Mk9200.

The 9200 kit has a large connector on the bluebox which is notorious for this. All you can do is push the connector firmly home, then get something like an awl, or small flat screwdriver and push the pins at the back of the connector in fully in case one's half unseated.

I have the same parrot as you and had the same problem.

First time it happened, I brought it back to shop and all he did was resit all the connections.

So next time it happened, I just did it myself.
Pop off the front cover of radio, there are probably 4 screws holding it in place behind the cover. Slide radio out and then there is a box behind it that controls the parrot. Just resit all the connections and that will fix your problem.

It is very easy to do

That's a bit of an assumption. Some cars are much more difficult to remove the radio on that others.

Cheers for the suggestion, if its that simple i'll definitely give it a shot.

The car is a toyota auris, not sure how easy or difficult accessing it will be but I can have a look and see!

Interesting that you experienced exactly the same problem Zefer. Have you had to resit the connections a few times then?

    Had this with a 3200ls.

Used to just beat the side wall of where it rested and it stopped it's reeboot.

As said though, if you can remove the radio housing then the wee blue control box at the back is your source of troubles. Just ensure that all connections are nice and tight.

It has happened twice but was same issue both times.

Just google removing the radio from toyota auris.

Panel below the Gear Stick lifts up. Two bolts up from the near the radio come out and that takes the face off to give access to the blue control.

Should be well documented on the Toyota Owners Club Dot Com

I had to comment on this because some directions for removing the radio your getting are terrible, you said you have an auris- to remove the radio first remove the two narrow silver panels each side of the radio (start at top) this will reveal the 4 ten mm bolts that keep the radio in place,

I'd possibly try updating the software via bluetooth from the laptop first, may or may not help (definitly won't hurt though), I was having pretty much the same problem with my MK6000 and reflashing the bluebox it worked, it was just randomly booting my phone off the bluetooth connection.

The 9200 doesn't update via bluetooth, it does so off a USB stick - do not under any circumstances attempt an update if you're having power issues. If the power cuts off half way through an update, you'll have a bricked handsfree.

Ah fair enough, ignore my previous post.

thanks folks, i found a few great sites that show detailed step by step pics on how to get access to behind the radio. I might give it a shot tomorrow.

    Thanks again for the suggestions!
