    Anyone else seen this ?

Apparently they claim it gets 150mpg on combined cycle.

Plus you can run it on Electric only (Charge it up on Night rate electricity) for 50km.

And it doesn't look totally stupid like the Nissan Leaf.

And a 2.4 Liter Turbocharge Diesel which also runs in combination with the electric when taking off to give 215PS from the front wheels and 70PS from the back.

I'll be booking a test drive I think, for me it falls below the 50g/km Co2 Limit so does not have any import or luxury tax in the Netherlands .. and their installing charging points at work :D

Better option than an ultra expensive Tesla or a Leaf that means you need a second car to get from Cork - Dublin (or for me at least Duesseldorf - Eindhoven)

    Another article detailing specs here:

Finally a company that understands that more people will look in to them if they're half-ways decent looking.

    Looks fantastic.

I always thought something like a prius with a diesel would be a better option then a petrol engine. The most economical of engines with hybrid motor, excellent :D

I cannot understand why ma ufacturers did not marry up the diesel & electric power sooner. I also agree that most of the current electric cars available are not the prettiest, another baffling fact.
Hope we see more like this.

I agree with this so much I had to quote it. Thank you sir, well said!
It simply is the most incomprehensible fact on earth, bit like "OK, we got diesel and we got electric, they're made for each other, let's stick in a petrol"
It's a bit like trying to make an omelet out of coconuts. Literally nuts.

Looks a proper car, 50km range on electric power would suit many folk with an overnight charge, the future doesn't look as grim now, no need for the Leaf etc

I hope reliability is as good as the japs

Hmmm, and they give out about hybrids carrying around heavy batteries. This one is carrying around a big lump of a diesel engine too. Can't help but think they should have downsized that a bit.

Its a great idea, cheap to tax and run, you can do all your runs across the town on cheap night rate electricity but still have a proper car with a nice 5 cylinder engine with plenty of poke!

    LOL!

the fact that its a >2 litre engine in it is the most attractive thing about it. this is honestly the only hybrid in europe i would consider buying

    LOL!

The whole reason I wouldn't buy a Prius is because of the small petrol engine, it makes it unsuitable for long trips and the performance is terrible.

I wouldnt buy a Leaf becuase of the poor range and it makes it only suitable for one purpose.

Most of all I wouldn't buy either becuase they look awful, The Leaf looks like a Micra that was horribly injured in a fire.

The early development of this was done with a V70 with the 1.6 litre PSA/Ford engine in it which I think would be a better choice than the 2.4.

If the prices aren't crazy I will be considering this when it's launched, should be available here in Sweden next year. But it's not a car I would buy to keep for more than 3 years.

If you consider all the possible costs with modern diesels what with dual mass flywheels failing or diesel entering the sump during DPF re-generation etc. and then add in the fact that the batteries will only have a certain lifespan then the total cost of ownership for a car like this could get fairly hefty over a longer period.

Better to buy nearly new and punt it on after a couple of years.
